JOB DESCRIPTION:
1. Credit Risk Management
& Policy Governance
Purpose: Protect company revenue by
managing customer credit exposure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and
enforce credit control policies and procedures.
- Evaluate customer
creditworthiness using financial statements, credit reports, and payment
history.
- Set and review credit
limits in line with risk appetite and business strategy.
- Monitor credit exposure
and ensure compliance with internal controls and audit requirements.
- Recommend risk mitigation
strategies (e.g., guarantees, deposits, insurance).
2. Accounts Receivable
& Collections Management
Purpose: Ensure timely collection
and healthy cash flow.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily AR
operations and aging analysis.
- Monitor overdue accounts
and drive effective collection strategies.
- Lead negotiations with
customers on repayment plans where necessary.
- Escalate high-risk
accounts and coordinate legal recovery actions when required.
- Maintain optimal Days
Sales Outstanding (DSO) targets.
3. Team Leadership &
Performance Management
Purpose: Lead and develop the
credit control team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise, mentor, and
evaluate credit control officers/executives.
- Set KPIs for collection
efficiency and dispute resolution.
- Conduct training on credit
risk assessment and compliance standards.
- Foster cross-functional
collaboration with Sales, Finance, and Operations.
4. Financial Reporting
& Management Insights
Purpose: Provide data-driven
insights to senior management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare AR aging reports,
bad debt provisions, and credit exposure summaries.
- Analyse trends in payment
behaviour and recommend improvements.
- Support month-end closing,
audit processes, and provisioning calculations.
- Present credit risk
updates to senior leadership.
5. Stakeholder &
Customer Relationship Management
Purpose: Balance revenue growth
with risk control.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with Sales to
align credit terms with commercial objectives.
- Communicate with key
customers regarding payment expectations and disputes.
- Ensure dispute resolution
processes are efficient to prevent delayed payments.
- Maintain strong
relationships while enforcing company credit standards.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in
accounting, Finance, or related field. Professional certification
(ACCA/CPA/CIMA) is a plus.
- 2–5 years of experience in
accounts receivable and credit control.
- Proficient in ERP systems,
financial reporting tools, and advanced Excel for aging reports and
reconciliations.
- Strong experience in
managing credit risk, reducing overdue accounts, and improving cash flow.
- Knowledgeable in credit
policy implementation, credit limit review, and collection strategies to reduce
DSO.
- Strong analytical and
problem-solving abilities with sound financial judgment.
- Good communication and
negotiation skills, with the ability to work closely with customers and
internal teams to resolve payment issues.
